On the left, the image embroideries features Pritam Kaur, a Punjabi immigrant, mother, and farmworker who was a fierce
activist involved in organizing the Canadian Farmworker’s Union through the 1970’s and 80’s. On the right, another elderly
Punjabi woman (currently unidentified) protests in Brampton in 2024 as a part of organizing against the deportations of
students and workers as the Canadian government introduced new restrictions that would limit the ability for people to stay in
the country post-graduation. While standing decades apart, there are many similarities between these women and the reasons
for the advocacy work. The monochromatic silk thread collapses their temporal distance, bringing them closer together.
